  1. Special Menu - "Change Creator/Type..."

  3. Sometimes, while working in an application program, you may find yourself unable to open
  4. a file that you know the application should be able to open.  For instance, you are using
  5. your favorite editor and you want to open a text file that you just downloaded.  You select
  6. "Open" from your application's "File Menu," and select the correct folder, but the file isn't
  7. listed when you know it's there.  This is usually because the file that you are trying to
  8. open has its type set incorrectly.  The "Change Creator/Type" item will allow you to modify
  9. the file Type and Creator codes for any file.

  11. Remember, if you are unsure of what you are doing, change the codes on a copy of the file,
  12. not on the original.  Please see the help item "File Type Preferences" for more information.
